1896 Silver Certificates
Below are a couple of images of U.S. currency of days past; the 1896 five- and one-dollar silver certificates, respectively.
Needless to say, the artistic content is more impressive than that of contemporary notes. They may not have the security features of modern currency, but do possess such greater aesthetic appeal. Furthermore, the depiction of the Constitution on the back of the $1 is so much more powerful than “In god we trust” as an appeal to authority.
