The Economics of Science

Given the recent California proposal to cut high school science standards in half  - (1 year vs. the 2 current) in response to budgetary constraints – we should be reminded of the economics of scientific inquiry. Few other pursuits provide such a great return on investment for social benefit, as particle physicist Brian Cox emphasizes in this 2010 TED talk entitled Why We Need The Explorers.
