The 8.8 Earthquake in Chile
This is terrible. Today, Chile was hit with an 8.8 magnitude earthquake; the country has been previously hit with major earthquakes and therefore has a substantial infrastructure that helped to minimize the loss of life. However, there is loss and destruction, as evident below, but aid is already beginning to flow in. As a consequence of the proximity to the ocean, the Pacific coast is currently bracing for a potential tsunami; arrival times can be found here.
