The Science of Cocktails

Unfortunately I missed this recent afterhours Science of Cocktails event at the San Francisco Exploratorium, but I do know a couple of friends that went and they indicated that the event was a great success. Below is one of my favorite videos from the evening, which highlights the new genre called molecular mixology and shows the creation of an Old Cuban Cocktail (recipe; PDF) which is frothed and submerged in liquid nitrogen to produce an interesting frozen beverage.

From YouTube:

Old Cuban Cocktail aerated with nitrous oxide into a foam and frozen with liquid nitrogen. Mixed up by Doug Williams of Liquid Alchemy.
