TED: Janine Benyus – Biomimicry in action

Nature, through billions of years of evolution, has developed some remarkable designs that enable organisms to adapt to their environment. Some of these designs are so elequent and robust that scientists, in a new field called Biomimicry, are beginning to mimic their briliance in order to engineer products needed to alleviate our problems, as highlighted in the following talk by Janine Benyus from TED.

From TED:

Janine Benyus has a message for inventors: When solving a design problem, look to nature first. There you’ll find inspired designs for making things waterproof, aerodynamic, solar-powered and more. Here she reveals dozens of new products that take their cue from nature with spectacular results.
