TED: Evan Grant – Making Sound Visible Through Cymatics

In follow up to a previous post regarding the visualization of sound through cymatics, TED has just released a short little video on the subject, as given below. In the talk, Evan Grant explores some of the history of the subject, provides some demonstrations (including a quick look at how Pink Floyd’s Welcome to The Machine is visualized through cymatics), and outlines the vast spectrum of it potential applications.

From TED:

Evan Grant demonstrates the science and art of cymatics, a process for making soundwaves visible. Useful for analyzing complex sounds (like dolphin calls), it also makes complex and beautiful designs.
